CYPRESS HILLS

Residing over bortle class 2 skies, the Cypress Hills is an interprovincial park belonging to both Saskatchewan and Alberta. For this article, we’ll be covering places to stargaze on the Alberta side. For information on the Saskatchewan page (which will be up shortly). The area offers beautiful Canadian woods and lake stargazing views, which we recommend to anyone looking to get into stargazing. Located 3 hours away from Calgary and 6 hours away from Edmonton. We recommend camping or finding an Airbnb in the area to stay in to get the most out of your experience as always.

For areas to stay we recommend the ones listed below, but there’s always joy in exploring and finding a more personal place you can stargaze in the area, always ensure it is legal to stargaze there and you’re not breaking any curfew laws in that area.

  • Spruce Couleee Campground

  • Elkwater lake

  • Reesor Lake Viewpoint

  • Reesor Lake Campgrounds

  • Battle Creek Campground
