Things to consider before

  • Does your dark sky viewing area permit camping

  • How is the weather, you will need clear skies

  • are you dressing appropriately for the time of year

  • Redlight flashlight

  • Jacket or sweater for the chilly nights

  • Telescope or binoculars

  • Camera (don’t forget the tripod)

  • Snacks

  • Beach Towel (or anything to lie down on)

  • Starmap or app (we recommend sky portal)

Stargazing in Canada can be extremely rewarding if you know the right places to go. Take a quick moment to read common etiquette, things to bring, and potential things to consider when going.


Etiquette

When going out please keep in mind these common etiquette practices to respect everyone else!

  • Please refrain from bringing white lights to any dark sky preserve. Red light flashlights only.

  • Pick up after yourself do not leave any trash

  • Avoid Loud noises

  • Avoid making fires, Alcohol, and music, if you do bring music, wear headphones and keep your brightness at a minimum to not disturb others, if alcohol is brought make sure not to disturb others
